Become a part of our international Operations team in Johannesburg, South Africa. For the next possible date we are looking for you in fulltime as Company Driver.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
Assist road freight department in all operations /customer services / queries / admin and with all management and negotiations with suppliers and haulage contractors and customs, border posts/border agents
Always assist and support all staff where possible when not busy with the core activities
Full care and reporting of any mechanical issues of whatsoever nature of the vehicle under your control
Weekly vehicle inspection form to be completed and given to reporting line every Monday am prior to the week starting
Goods received vouchers to be completed in full and handed back to the warehouse team to ensure documents are entered receipted or sent with proof of collection or receipting
Updates to be always provided to ensure a smooth operation and if delays these to be advised to reporting lines outlined
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to be worn at all times at both the Office and at sites
Time sheets to be completed upon arrival and departure daily with overtime being signed off by the reporting line only
If required lifting or lashing of goods to be done in a safe guideline practices at all times in accordance with guidelines and advise given
All goods in transit to be handled in a safe manner at all times, as well reports all accidents involving driver or company equipment
What you can contribute:
At least 5 years’ experience in this role with other companies
Knowledge in all freight forwarding / haulage disciplines, e.g., surface/road transport, as well as good understanding of company vehicles and cranes/sidelifters
Licenced and experienced to drive company vehicles, rules of the road, and TRH11 loading capacities of vehicles
Company rules and guidelines Particularly re use of Fuel Card, Phone, Cash Monies allowance, documentation, logbook, rules of the road, driver etiquette, load responsibility
Strong customer service/focus
Valid SA motor vehicle licences – Code 14 for vehicle being driven
Strong organizational skills (prioritize, plan, assigning, control) and attention to detail are essential
Decision making capabilities with regards to haulage and customers’shipments
Team player and ability to motivate a team of colleagues as well as customer focused, results oriented and performance driven
